Healing Across Borders
Henry, a seasoned registered Chinese medicine practitioner from Hong Kong, uprooted his family and moved to Canada with one clear goal — to practise his craft again. But like many new immigrants, he had to start from scratch. To “clock hours” for his work permit, Henry worked in a supermarket, all while studying hard to obtain his Canadian licence.
With persistence and passion, he became a lecturer at several local colleges and, eventually, opened his own Chinese medicine clinic in Vancouver — using the same name as his Hong Kong practice.
“Let’s be honest,” Henry says, “who doesn’t dream of getting back to their old profession after immigrating?”
