“Occupy Central Three” activist Kin-man Chan was released from prison three years ago, losing his status as a scholar and gradually fading from the public eye. In 2021, he was invited by National Chengchi University in Taiwan to serve as a visiting professor. He shared with Green Bean his experiences when he first arrived in Taiwan, describing how he once lost his [moral] power to speak and how he later regained his motivation to engage in small but meaningful endeavors. As for whether to leave or stay, he does not have a definite answer but only knows that he must always maintain hope and live in the present moment.
