Appreciating Full Moon with Poon Choi

Vivien has always had a dream to run a Hong Kong-style cafe in the UK, bringing authentic Hong Kong flavors to homesick Hongkongers, while also sharing the unique taste, culture, and history of Hong Kong with various customers through traditional Chinese characters, Cantonese songs, and various decorations in the cafe.

The BNO Visa migration wave for Hongkongers unexpectedly made her dream a reality, and she opened a “Hong Kong Flavor” restaurant called Aquila, staying true to her original intention.

Vivien, who comes from a Hakka background with a strong family ethos, is well aware that like many Hongkongers in the UK, she doesn’t know when she will be able to “return home”. This year, for the Mid-Autumn Festival, her restaurant introduced a traditional family poon choi, allowing Hongkongers abroad to experience the taste of the festival while also expressing the hope that all migrants will eventually reunite with their families under the full moon.
